Avila

Ávila is a city which is located nearby Salamanca. It is a small and cultural city which is surrounded by a very beautiful medieval wall, with its 88 towers and 9 gateways. The wall gives an accurate idea about the history of Ávila and its inhabitants. The climate is very sunny and nice all year long. There is not too much tourism and the city is clean and quite cheap. The city is famous for its beautiful blue and its landscapes. The city of Ávila is located almost 1100 meters above sea level. But the area is not only known for its clean air, but also for its magnificent monuments.

The city has a beautiful Gothic Cathedral which seems like a fortress and there are also many churches, like Santo Tomas, with its beautiful marble monument built by the Florentine sculptor Domenico Fancelli, and San Vicente for example. Besides, there are many palaces in Ávila. In fact, the whole city has been put on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. If you want to have a beautiful view of all the city you should go to Los Cuatro Postes , a monument that can offer you a panoramic view of the magnificent place. Those who like nature sports like hiking or adventurous sports will enjoy  the Sierra de Gredos Natural Park. Furthermore, the city of Ávila is linked to the life of Teresa of Ávila, the 16th century monastic reformer and important Spanish poetess.
